Its importance lies in protecting sensitive data, maintaining business continuity, meeting compliance requirements, and establishing a foundation of trust in complex, distributed environments.

Its core includes protection at multiple levels: secure supply chain (such as container image scanning, trusted registries, signature verification); workload and runtime security (such as the principle of least privilege, process/file system/network isolation, intrusion detection); infrastructure and orchestration security (cluster hardening, API server protection, RBAC fine-grained authorization, network policies); continuous compliance and auditing (policy as code, automated configuration checks, real-time log monitoring).

The implementation steps are as follows:

1. Shift-left security: Integrate code scanning, dependency analysis, and image vulnerability scanning into the CI/CD pipeline.

2. Harden runtime: Deploy security agents or eBPF programs to monitor container behavior and enforce network segmentation policies.

3. Manage secrets: Use dedicated secret management services (such as Vault) and avoid hardcoding.

4. Enforce policies: Use OPA/Gatekeeper to define and automatically enforce security policies.

5. Continuous auditing: Collect audit logs centrally, link with SIEM systems, and conduct automated compliance checks and incident response. These measures collectively form a defense-in-depth system to reduce risks and ensure compliance.
